Former Carlton wingman Jaxon Binns has signed with Victorian local club Berwick for the 2026 season, returning to his junior club after being delisted by the Blues.
Binns is set to share his time between the Eastern Football Netball League outfit and Essendon’s VFL program, having already begun training with the Bombers since leaving Princes Park.
The 21-year-old spent three years on Carlton’s list after being drafted at Pick 32 in the 2022 AFL Draft from the Dandenong Stingrays.
The outside midfielder was dominant in his maiden year with the Blues’ VFL side, claiming best and fairest honours as a teenager to press his case for a senior chance.
Binns was made to wait for a debut until his second season, with a promotion eventually coming in Round 7 of the 2024 season against Geelong.
The wingman played two more games that year before adding a further five to his resume in 2025.
Binns, despite having a contract with the Blues for 2026, was cut by the club at the cessation of the most recent season.Â
In addition to his commitments with Essendon’s program, Binns has linked up with Berwick for the club’s 2026 campaign.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Jaxon Binns back to where it all started,” a club post read.

“Since being taken by Carlton with pick 32 in the 2022 AFL Draft, Jaxon has gone from strength to strength, making an immediate impact by winning Carlton’s VFL Best and Fairest in his debut year.
“After making his AFL debut in 2024, Jaxon has consistently proven himself as an elite wingman at the highest level.
“We are over the moon to have him back in the fold; beyond his incredible running power, we can’t wait for him to mentor our younger players by passing on his high-level skill set and professional standards.”
Binns is the second Berwick recruit to come straight out of the AFL system, with delisted North Melbourne defender Miller Bergman also signing with the Wickers for 2026.Â
Berwick managed five wins from 18 games in 2025, finishing ninth in the Premier Division.Â
The club’s 2026 season opens with a home game against South Belgrave on Saturday, April 11. Â
