DONCASTER chief executive Carl Hall says it’s time for the club to up the ante as they continue to pursue Super League ambitions.

And he says the backing provided by Terry Bramall and Gavin Baldwin means there are high expectations on all concerned as the new season nears.

Businessman and philanthropist Bramall is chairman and Baldwin chief executive of Doncaster Rovers, the football team with whom the Rugby League club share the Eco-Power Stadium and are linked under the Club Doncaster umbrella.

Baldwin is a director of the Rugby League club, who were among the seven sides who applied for a place in the new expanded top-flight.

Like London Broncos, Oldham and Widnes, Doncaster missed out, but remain determined at some stage to seal a return to the highest level, where a previous version of the club played in 1994-95.

Having won promotion in 2023, Richard Horne’s charges have twice finished eighth in the former second tier, and have reinforced the squad over the close-season.

“I think we’re a well-respected Championship club now,” said New Zealander Hall, the former Doncaster player and co-owner who has been in his present role since 2013.

“The boys had a real dig last season, but not making the play-offs doesn’t sit well with them.

“There were numerous meetings at the end of the season and that led to me submitting a representation to Gavin and Terry, which they have supported.

“There have also been numerous meetings with staff looking at the business model of the club. We will be moving things forward and that will help with the playing budget, plus the support Terry and Gavin have given.

“We have been in the Championship for two years, had a look at it and now want to have a big go with Super League the destination.

“It’s all based on doing things the right way, and the blow torch is on us to get this club to where we want to be.”
