Speedway GP star Jack Holder warmed up for next month’s Australian Championship series with victory at the Darcy Ward Invitational in Sydney on Boxing Day.
Holder topped the podium after winning the final ahead of fellow Aussie international Ryan Douglas, who was second, with Zaine Kennedy third and SON2 star Tate Zischke placed fourth.
Holder went unbeaten in his opening four heats, before suffering a fall in his final qualifying ride to finish on 12 – level with Kennedy. Douglas topped the score chart on 13. But the world No.5 got the verdict when it mattered most in the final.
Elsewhere, former World Under-21 champion Jaimon Lidsey raced to victory at the Phil Crump Solo Classic in Mildura on Sunday.
Lidsey won the six-rider final ahead of American international Luke Becker in second, two-time Aussie champion Rohan Tungate in third, Zischke in fourth place, British star Leon Flint in fifth and local favourite Justin Sedgmen in sixth.
