Valtteri Bottas has posted a typically fun and light-hearted Happy New Year message to social media, embracing his impending move to Cadillac.
The Finnish driver — known for also embracing Australian culture in extension of his relationship with cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, who hails from the country — has added another nation to the growing list of places around the world he holds close to his heart with a tribute to the United States of America.
The 36-year-old joins the General Motors-backed project with Sergio Perez, forming one of the most experienced line-ups on the F1 grid in the fledgling operation’s first season.
Bottas made his own F1 debut with Williams in 2013 and is a veteran of 246 grand prix starts. He claimed 10 victories in his time at Mercedes between 2017 and 2021, before moving to Alfa Romeo-Sauber.
He was, however, consigned to a season on the sidelines in 2025, having lost his seat at the team now known as Audi.
In addition to returning to Mercedes as test and reserve driver, Bottas has kept himself busy, cycling 16,639 kilometres across the year, which is further than the F1 grid raced across the 24-round calendar.
In recent years, he has become known for his fun-loving and playful attitude, with his dyed-blonde mullet and nude calendars.
