The Gold Coast Titans have secured experienced depth for their backline, landing utility back Mawene Hiroti on a two-year deal that will see the New Zealand-born flyer call the Gold Coast home for the 2027 and 2028 NRL seasons.
Hiroti, 26, arrives with 34 NRL appearances and 14 tries to his name, bringing versatility and strike to Josh Hannay’s evolving Titans squad as the club continues to shape its roster for the latter half of the decade.
The Kiwi outside back made his NRL debut in 2018 with South Sydney, featuring against Brisbane in an 18–38 loss at Suncorp Stadium. After moving to the Cronulla Sharks in 2020, Hiroti carved out a role as a reliable squad option, enjoying his most consistent run in 2021, where he made 14 appearances during the Sharks’ campaign.
Despite competition for spots in Cronulla’s backline, Hiroti continued to make an impact when called upon. In 2025, he featured nine times for the Sharks, crossing for five tries, underlining his ability to find the stripe at NRL level.
The move to the Gold Coast represents a fresh opportunity for Hiroti, who will be eyeing more regular top-grade minutes under Hannay. His ability to cover wing, centre and fullback adds valuable flexibility for the Titans, particularly as they look to build depth and resilience across their backline.
With the Titans continuing to invest in proven yet hungry talent, Hiroti shapes as a smart addition — a player entering his prime years with the motivation to cement himself as a consistent NRL contributor in Titans colours.
