Police are seeking public assistance to locate a 22-year-old French man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in a Melbourne laneway in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Officers have been told the victim was with friends at a nightclub when a man helped her from the dance floor after she fell.Â
Detectives believe the same man sexually assaulted the woman at about 4:30am in Coors Lane, which runs between Little Bourke and Lonsdale streets, before leading her to Little Bourke Street and leaving the area.

A French national, named by police as Adam Berguiga, is wanted on warrant in relation to the alleged sexual assault.
It is believed he may be driving a blue 2007 Toyota Yaris with the registration UYO268, and he is known to have spent time in the Melbourne CBD, St Kilda and wider Port Phillip area.
Investigators have released an image of Mr Berguiga in the hope someone may be able to provide information on his whereabouts.
He has short dark hair and a side part, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie jacket and black and white sneakers.
