VALTTERI Bottas will pilot a special Ferrari Formula 1 car at this year’s edition of the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.

The Grand Prix winner, event ambassador and honorary South Australian local will drive the turbocharged 156/85 that was raced by Michele Alboreto in the inaugural Australian F1 Grand Prix in 1985.

Although he will return to the F1 grid full-time this year with the new Cadillac squad, the Ferrari drive won’t be a clash: ‘prancing horse’ engines will power the American marque’s cars.

The 1985-model Ferraris have been popular regulars at the event, with the sister #28 car to be again driven by period-correct pilot Stefan Johansson, who was reunited with it at a previous edition of the AMF.

Bottas and Johansson will pilot the pair of Ferraris in the demonstration session at 1:45pm on the Sunday of the event.

The Finn will also drive a V8-powered Holden Monaro HQ in an expression demonstration session earlier in the day, and will meet fans in the Adelaide Marriott Grand Marquee.
