Wall Street has climbed overnight and this morning, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting an all-time high, thanks to surging financial shares.
Energy firms also jumped after the U.S. strike on Venezuela.
Dow Jones closed Monday afternoon trading up +1.3% at 48,977 points.
S&P 500 closed up +0.6% at 6,902 points.
Nasqad closed +0.8% at 25,401 points.

Gold hits one-week high after US strikes in Venezuela
Gold has risen to a one-week high, after U.S. strikes in Venezuela has increased the demand for the safe-haven asset.
Spot gold is up +2.7% at $4445.44 as of 8am AEDT.
Gold hit an all time high of $4,549.71 on December 26 last year.

The RBA’s first meeting of the year is a month away, but that doesn’t mean interest rate watchers are still on holiday, writes business digital lead Stephanie Chalmers.
Last year, the RBA delivered three interest rate cuts, leaving the cash rate at 3.6%.
Then, in her final remarks of the year, RBA governor Michele Bullock laid the cards on the table for 2026.
She said she didn’t see rate cuts “on the horizon for the foreseeable future” and instead noted an extended hold or a rate rise may come.
As for February, and based on current market pricing, its looking like there will be no change to the cash rate.

It’s been a big few days of international news, after US President Donald Trump launched strikes on Venezuela and captured its president.
The South American country has the world’s largest oil reserves, estimated at around 300 billion barrels.
President Trump is after these reserves and you might have heard him say Venezuela “stole American oil”.
It’s confusing, given this oil is on Venezuelan soil.

Adelaide Miller here to bring you all of the morning finance and markets news.
After a rocky road for oil prices yesterday, Brent crude is up this morning (+1.7%), trading at $US61.78 a barrel after the massive news out of the Americas at the weekend.
The Aussie share market is set to rise when the market opens this morning, with futures pointing to a gain of 0.4%.
Wall Street is in the green, with the S&P 500 up +0.6%, Dow Jones up +1.4%, and Nasdaq up +0.7%.
The Aussie dollar is pretty flat, trading at 67 US cents, while Gold is up +2.7%, and Silver up +5%.
