Finn Allen is in the mix to the return for the Perth Scorchers who’ve also added two fast bowlers but spinner Ashton Agar has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Round 6 game.

SQUAD NEWS

The Scorchers named their 14-player squad for Wednesday’s clash with the Melbourne Renegades at Optus Stadium in Perth, with three changes.

Finn Allen is named in the 14 but no guarantee to return, with Laurie Evans – who missed last game with a minor hamstring strain – also in the squad.

Wicketkeeper Joel Curtis drops out of the squad, suggesting that at least one of either Allen or Evans – who can both take the gloves – will play.

The Scorchers update said: “Allen (finger) and Evans (hamstring) are also in the frame for a return to the side, having both missed Sunday’s win over Adelaide.”

Jhye Richardson returns having been released from the Test squad, while English left-armer David Payne is named after arriving in Perth after winning the ILT20 title with Desert Vipers on Sunday.

Their availabilities put the job security of Brody Couch and Mahli Beardman at risk. Fast bowler Bryce Jackson has already dropped out of the squad.

Ashton Agar is the other one to make way due to a calf issue, having undergone scans on Monday after sustaining the injury on Sunday’s win over the Adelaide Strikers. That opens the door for Corey Rocchiccioli to play given the impact of spin at the venue last game.

The Renegades named their 14-player squad, with one change as Caleb Jewell comes in for Harry Dixon.

Ollie Peake is named, although he is expected to depart Australia for the U19 World Cup in Africa this week.

UPDATES

The Sydney Sixers announced Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood as a supplementary contracted player. However, don’t expect him to play.

The Sixers update said: “While the Australian quick is unlikely to take the field due to his ongoing recovery from injury, he will remain involved with the club in an off-field capacity throughout the season.”
