BBC Studios has appointed Sharon Wilson as its director of brands and licensing in Australia and New Zealand.

Wilson will oversee local brand strategy and licensing initiatives for the BBC’s commercial properties, including the world-famous Bluey brand. She will report to Suzy Raia, EVP of global consumer products, and will be based in Sydney.

This marks a return to the BBC for Wilson, who worked at the broadcaster from 2010 to 2020 across various head of marketing roles. Since leaving the BBC, she worked in senior roles at Australian Geographic and ADMA.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sharon back to BBC Studios in this pivotal role,” Raia said in a media release.

“Her deep understanding of our brands, combined with her proven expertise in strategic marketing and licensing, will be instrumental in driving growth and innovation across the ANZ region. Sharon’s collaborative leadership and passion for creativity make her the perfect fit to strengthen our consumer products and brand partnerships.”

Wilson said in the release she is “passionate about creating meaningful connections between brands and audiences”.

“By leveraging data-driven insights and embracing fresh ideas, we can position BBC Studios for sustained growth in an ever-evolving marketplace.”

In November, BBC Studios melded its media and streaming arms in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia into a single division, appointing its former GM of global media streaming, Robi Stanton, as the APAC president.
