Arne Slot gives Hugo Ekitike injury update ahead of testing trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal
Ekitike is Liverpool’s top goalscorer this season but did not play against Fulham on the weekend after feeling some discomfort in his hamstring.
“He’s not trained with us til now,” Slot said on Wednesday morning. “Let’s see if he can today. I said, two or three days ago when we played Fulham, that he’s not going to be out for long but, because game’s come so fast, he’s in between maybe training with the team or it may take him one or two days extra.”

‘I think it was’ Semenyo’s last game – Iraola
Andoni Iraola appears to have resigned himself to Antoine Semenyo leaving, as he is expected to, for Manchester City.
The Ghanaian scored the winner in Bournemouth’s 3-2 win over Tottenham tonight.
Iraola told BBC Match of the Day afterwards, when asked if it was Semenyo’s last game: “I think it was, unluckily for us I think it was.
“He has been if not the best, one of the best I have coached. He has improved every single season. He has scored 10 goals in half a season and not even a number nine. It is not just the numbers but a lot of things – the physicality, the balls in the air and the defensive things. He will be a big miss.”

Mikel Arteta provides injury updates on Calafiori, Mosquera and Havertz ahead of Liverpool test
Mikel Arteta has confirmed Arsenal’s defensive options will remain limited for Thursday’s test of Liverpool with Cristhian Mosquera and Riccardo Calafiori still ruled out.
Mosquera picked up an ankle injury in December that Arteta said would keep the Colombian out for “weeks”, while Calafiori sustained a “very awkward” injury in the build-up to the visit of Brighton.
Neither were expected to feature against Liverpool but Arteta did note that the pair are closing in on a return, should nothing go wrong in their final stage of rehabilitation.

Howe emphasises Newcastle loyalty
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has distanced himself from suggestions he could leave St James’ Park, highlighting his “100 per cent” commitment to the Magpies.
“Nothing has changed from my perspective,” he explained.
“I’m 100 per cent here, working as hard as I can, head down, ignoring all the stuff that you guys write good or bad because it’s irrelevant.
“It’s about today’s work and trying to prepare the team as well as we can for Leeds, so that will never change from my perspective, my commitment to my work and my job.
“As long as I’m happy and able to express myself in the best way that I can to help the team, nothing will change.”

The 33-year-old helped the side escape relegation at the end of last season, and he may well harbour hopes (however slim) of making the Selecao squad for the 2026 World Cup.
