The Whitehouse Wildcats girls’ basketball team showcases an extraordinary unbeaten streak at 27-0.

WHITEHOUSE, Texas — The 1978 Whitehouse Wildcats boy’s basketball team holds the best record in school history. In a year that ended in a state championship, they went 36-1.

The 2026 girls team isn’t far behind.

“The past three years I’ve been here, it’s been mid seasons, like 50-50, seasons. So not losing a game yet is crazy,” Senior Tayla Morris said.

The girls are a perfect 27-0. It’s more wins than any other Wildcat girls basketball team in at least 20 years, and there’s still seven games to play.

“Just a lot of hustle and heart and kids that do not want to lose. So it’s a lot of fun to coach,” head coach Meagan Leggett said.

Not wanting to lose is one thing, but not knowing how to lose is another. Most of this team really hasn’t played much basketball.

“We have two seniors, and then we have some some important role players that are juniors, but then we have one sophomore that’s playing, and then the rest are freshmen that are out there, and so we’re extremely young,” Leggett said.

To combat the youth, all preseason Leggett focused on team bonding get to know each other through their ‘Lady Cat Leadership Program’.

“We would break down just kind of our goals, our expectations, and how our approach to competition, our approach to teamwork, our approach to just the locker room and conversation, just just trying to unify and become one,” Leggett said.

Through the two seniors leading the team, the standard for the younger girls how the work is set so this dominant run can go much longer  than just 27 straight wins.

“It feels great to know like when they’re seniors, the freshman right now, they’re gonna be probably better than us,” senior Indyia Williams said.
