The Bears Tallied 6 Points On The Evening
Manoa, Hawai’i — In its season-opening match, the No. 15 California Golden Bears (1-0)Â defeated the Hawai’i Warriors (0-1), 6-1 in Hawai’i on Wednesday.
To begin the day, the doubles duo of Timofey Stepanov and Tiago Silva quickly gave Cal the doubles point advantage after they collected a 6-2 victory on court one. Next, on court two, Frederyk Lechno Wasiutynski and Leonardo Cattaneo secured the doubles point for the Bears with a 7-5 win.
Despite winning the doubles point, Winston Lee and Paris Pounatcha finished the doubles sweep with a 7-6 (1-0) victory on court three.
In singles action, Tiago Silva gave Cal its second point of the day after he won in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-1. On court six, Leonardo Cattaneo inched the Bears to the brink of a win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Finally, on court three, Timofey Stepanov cemented the victory for the Bears with a 6-4, 6-1 win.
Despite already clinching the match, Paris Pouatcha picked up a three-set victory on court four and Winston Lee picked up a win on court five.
