Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka has applied to reinstate his PGA Tour membership on Jan. 9, 2026, according to ESPN, initiating a reinstatement and disciplinary process following his exit from LIV Golf for family reasons
According to reports from ESPN, Brooks Koepka has applied to reinstate his PGA Tour membership, marking a potential step toward returning to the circuit he last competed on nearly four years ago.
The 35-year-old, a five-time major winner and nine-time PGA Tour victor, submitted his application on Jan. 9, 2026. His last PGA Tour appearance came at the Valspar Championship in March 2022, where he tied for 12th. Koepka did not renew his membership ahead of the 2022-23 season after joining LIV Golf.
The move follows Koepka’s departure from the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League on Dec. 23, 2025, with one year remaining on his contract. The split was described as amicable and mutual, with Koepka citing family priorities. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil noted Koepka’s desire to stay closer to home and focus on family needs. Koepka’s management team emphasized that family has always driven his choices, adding he remains committed to golf while supporting LIV Golf’s future.
Currently ranked No. 244 in the Official World Golf Ranking due to LIV events not awarding points, Koepka retains exemptions for the four majors in 2026 from his 2023 PGA Championship victory.
Upon reapplication, the PGA Tour will begin a reinstatement and disciplinary process, involving input from the board and player directors. The timeline for a decision remains unclear. Some reports suggest Koepka may not be eligible until August 2026 or later due to prior suspensions for LIV participants, though the tour has not confirmed details.
