Critically endangered Western Ground Parrot chick defies the odds

One of the world’s rarest parrots has successfully flown the nest in captivity for the first time.

The Western Ground Parrot is found on Western Australia’s south coast, and it’s estimated there are between 100-150 adults left in the wild.

Australian Fauna Supervisor at the Perth Zoo Matt Ricci spoke to Afternoons presenter Amber Cunningham about the breakthrough.
