Stranger Things spoilers follow.
It’s been over a week since Stranger Things aired its two-hour season 5 finale, officially marking an end to the Netflix series after ten years. But if you’ve been left scratching your head over the conclusive episode, it turns out you’re not alone.
One big question that fans have been pondering since the finale is why there were no Demogorgons in the final battle in the Abyss. The creepy creatures were originally set to appear in the scene, but were apparently cut due concerns over “Demogorgon fatigue”.
Fortunately, the upcoming documentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 will provide an insight into the Duffer Brothers’ creative process and address some of the unanswered questions from season 5.
According to director Martina Radwan, One Last Adventure will feature a behind-the-scenes writers’ room discussion regarding the final battle and the decision to ultimately remove the Demogorgons.

“I like that moment, and I like the conversation, because it obviously changed, right? And so having them sit there and really explore that — to me, the writers’ room is so fascinating, because you see them thinking,” she told Variety.
“I love that they were so sure about the Demogorgons in the final Abyss — except [co-creator Ross Duffer] was like, ‘Mmm, maybe there’s some fatigue, Demogorgon fatigue.’ And [writer and producer Kate Trefry] agreed.

“And you’re like, ‘Oh, OK — so this is not the last conversation. They disagree, and they will resolve it on some point.’ We, in the doc, left it open because at the time the doc comes out, everybody knows there are no Demos in the Pain Tree.”
The documentary will also feature interviews from the cast and crew, including actors Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) and Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), who appears in full costume – nosebleed and all.
Radwan explained that it was Brown’s idea to do her interview on her last day of filming as she “just wanted to be Eleven”. She added: “And then Millie being Millie, she gave a lot of other people nosebleeds as a wrap gift.”
Stranger Things seasons 1-5 are streaming on Netflix. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 will be released on Netflix on 12 January.
