Former SGP2 star Keynan Rew stormed to FIM Oceania Championship glory to secure his spot in the Speedway GP qualifiers.

Rew topped the heat score chart on 13 points from five rides at Adelaide track Gillman on Sunday to earn automatic qualification for the final.

He then saw off double Australian champion Rohan Tungate in second, 2026 Aussie Championship runner-up Jaimon Lidsey in third and multi-time FIM North America champion Luke Becker in fourth to win the continental crown.

Rew joins new Australian champion Jack Holder and Lidsey in the Speedway GP qualifiers, which will see them battle for a place at the FIM SGP Challenge in Terenzano on July 25. The top four riders at the Italian event earn qualification for the 2027 Speedway GP series.

Tungate’s second place in the FIM Oceania event and third spot in the Australian Championship series mean he falls cruelly short of the SGP qualifiers. He scored 12 points in the heats, before winning his semi-final ahead of Ben Cook, British star Scott Nicholls and Justin Sedgmen to reach the title decider at Gillman.

Lidsey took third in the FIM Oceania event after scoring 12 in the heats, before winning semi-final two ahead of 2025 SGP2 star Mitchell McDiarmid and British duo Luke Harrison and Leon Flint.

Becker was the best of the foreign riders, scoring 12 points in the heats to advance straight to the final, which saw him fall as he finished in fourth place. Seven-time British champion Nicholls scored nine, with Flint collecting eight points. Harrison scored six, with former SGP3 bronze medallist Will Cairns registering four.
