Adolescence actor Erin Doherty was apparently feeling a little loose-lipped while accepting her award at this year’s Golden Globes.

During Sunday night’s ceremony, the British performer was announced as the recipient of the Best Supporting Female Actor In A TV Series prize, triumphing over The White Lotus’ Aimee Lou Wood, Carrie Coon and Parker Posey, The Studio’s Catherine O’Hara and Hacks’ Hannah Einbinder.

After coming on stage to collect her award, she dropped an F-bomb that managed to make it onto the air, despite the Golden Globes’ censors’ best efforts.

“I made a promise to my mum I wouldn’t swear,” she began. “But what the ****! Holy ****!”

“Sorry, mum!” she then added, before going on to dedicate her win to Adolescence, having played one in the third episode of the hard-hitting Netflix drama.

But Erin wasn’t the only member of the Adolescence cast to keep the censors busy during Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony.

While accepting his award, Stephen Graham apologised after beginning his speech with a declaration of “bomboclaat”, which the awards show’s producers censored during the official Golden Globes broadcast.

Stephen’s speech also wound up generating a lot of conversation on social media after he became star-struck when he spotted Queen Latifah in the Golden Globes audience.

In addition to Erin and Stephen’s individual wins, Adolescence came away with the most awards in TV categories on Sunday night, also picking up Best Supporting Actor In A TV Series for its breakout star Owen Cooper and Best Limited Series, having already swept the board at last year’s Emmys and the Critics’ Choice Awards earlier this month.

Adolescence cast member Ashley Walters had also been nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category, but lost out to his teen co-star Owen on the night.
