Naked dressing is alive and well at the 2026 Golden Globes.
This year, celebrities opted for different interpretations of the scandalous, yet persistent trend. Jennifer Lawrence—nominated tonight for her role in Die My Love—hit the carpet in a diaphanous dress from Givenchy by Sarah Burton. The nude mesh dress was strategically embroidered with pale pink flowers and sage green leaves, which bloomed over her body and around the hemline. Lawrence also carried a pale pink satin stole that covered her backside—though she ditched it for her walk up the stairs.

Jennifer Lopez, Nobody Wants This actor Justine Lupe, and Sabrina Elba also got the sheer memo, too. Lopez chose a vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer gown by Stephane Rolland, sourced from Lily et Cie: a nude mesh turtleneck dress with brown swirling appliqué that carried down into her tulle mermaid skirt. Lupe, meanwhile, left little to the imagination in a nude tiered Armani Privé couture dress from fall 2021 with beaded fringe. Fellow archive deep diver Elba also turned to vintage, wearing a Guy Laroche fall winter 2002 gown in a delicate, sheer embroidered nude.

Minnie Driver and Ginnifer Goodwin, then, offered up a more pared-back take on the trend, each wearing strategically semi-sheer fabrics and employing a liberal appliqué. Goodwin, for one, wore a subtly transparent black Armani gown, with scatterings of crystals across the gown that kept the eye moving. Driver’s Sabina Bilenko Couture gown was half-naked half-not, with sheer black panelling and more dense strips of ornate silver beading. Both Driver and Goodwin reflected that the naked dress can still read both demure and mature.

But there were other interpretations of naked dressing that didn’t involve mesh. Jenna Ortega demonstrated how to make the military-inspired silhouette work on the red carpet in a glittering black dress from Dilara Findikoglu’s spring 2026 collection. Despite the high neck, Ortega showed plenty of skin thanks to side cutouts that showed off some tasteful side boob and a low-slung hip.

Meanwhile, Teyana Taylor also went the cutout route, in a black Schiaparelli dress that draped around her body. While it was already plenty sexy, she also came through with a party in the back, adding a rhinestone-encrusted bow at the rear.

The 2026 Golden Globes proved it: naked dressing isn’t going anywhere. But how will the trend evolve in the year to come? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
