Playing styles and prediction

Halys had some good results in 2025 but ultimately lacked the consistency needed to be a consistent member of the world’s top 70. However, the Frenchman proved that he can hang with the world’s best players during his run to the semi-finals in Dubai last year and will aim to do the same on a regular basis in 2026.

Fearnley will need to be aggressive on return and will hope to be consistent on serve as he looks to take the match to Halys. Meanwhile, Halys will be aggressive and proactive on serve as well as attacking the net in order to be efficient and test Fearnley’s confidence from the baseline. A nervy looking Fearnley may find this match tough but if he can gradually build confidence during the match then he stands every chance of winning the big points and advancing to the second round.

Prediction: Fearnley in three sets.
