Jalen Brunson’s importance to the New York Knicks was on full display on Thursday.
The star point guard is currently dealing with an ankle injury he suffered on Wednesday. Without him, the Knicks lost to the Golden State Warriors 126-113, marking back-to-back losses and their third loss in four games.
With no Brunson, OG Anunoby and Miles McBride led the way with 25 points, and Mikal Bridges posted 21, but it wasn’t enough to get past Stephen Curry and the Warriors.
After the loss, fans expressed concern about how the Knicks played without their star on the court.
Before suffering the ankle injury against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, Brunson had led the Knicks in scoring in their last eight games. As the team’s leader in scoring and assists, his value to the offense is nearly irreplaceable.
It’s unclear how long Brunson will be out, but New York will need more from its supporting cast if he’s absent against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
