Sharon Stone addressed a tense interaction with a group of younger attendees during an awards ceremony earlier this month, calling them out from the stage after receiving an honorary award.
The moment occurred on January 9 at the 9th Astra Film Awards in Los Angeles, where the Basic Instinct star, 67, was presented with the Timeless Award. Video from the event, which has since circulated online, shows Stone using part of her acceptance speech to recount an exchange that took place earlier in the evening at her table.

As Stone stepped up to the microphone following her introduction, she immediately referenced the incident, directing her comments toward a group she described as “kids” seated nearby.
“And to the kids at my table who wondered, ‘Who the f–k took that chair?’ Now you know,” Stone said, prompting laughter from the audience.
She went on to explain that the interaction escalated beyond a single comment.
“Yeah, someone came over and said, ‘Who are you and why are you sitting here?’” Stone continued, drawing audible gasps from the crowd.
According to Stone’s account, the exchange ended with a dismissive remark directed at her, which she also referenced during her speech.
“As she said, ‘F–k you!’” Stone added, and the line was met with applause inside the room.
The actress did not identify the individuals involved, and they have not been publicly named. Video footage doesn’t show the interaction itself, only Stone’s retelling of it during her acceptance speech.
After addressing the incident, Stone shifted the tone of her remarks and used the moment to speak more broadly about awareness, purpose, and activism. Rather than continuing to criticize the group, she framed the situation as a learning opportunity.
“More importantly, and more to the point, I’d like to say welcome to you,” Stone said. “And I’d like to say, this is an opportunity.”
The Casino actress then reflected on her own career and public platform, noting that she began her activism work after achieving fame.
“I started my activism work when my fame kicked in,” she said. “And I’d like to give you an opportunity to start your activism work now that your consciousness has kicked in.”
Stone concluded that portion of her remarks by emphasizing the importance of awareness alongside success.
“Because fame without awareness, success without purpose, is pointless,” she said.
Stone went on to complete her acceptance speech without further reference to the incident.
