Suniel Shetty has added his voice to the growing appreciation for Dhurandhar, singling out Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna for what he described as outstanding performances in the film. Speaking to NDTV while promoting his non-fiction show, the veteran actor offered a candid assessment of the cast, placing particular emphasis on Ranveer’s controlled and inward performance.

Reflecting on the film as a whole, Shetty credited director Aditya Dhar for striking the right balance in contemporary storytelling. He noted that the narrative strength of Dhurandhar is matched by performances that resist excess and rely instead on emotional grounding.
When it came to evaluating the actors, Shetty was clear and unambiguous. “The performances are outstanding. Akshaye Khanna is 10 on 10. He is a fantastic actor,” he said, acknowledging Khanna’s assured presence and command on screen.
However, it was Ranveer Singh’s portrayal that drew Shetty’s strongest reaction. “Ranveer Singh is 100 out of 10. It is Ranveer Singh all the way,” he stated, underlining the impact of the actor’s performance despite its restrained nature.
Elaborating on what set Ranveer apart, Shetty pointed to the difficulty of playing a character driven by internal conflict rather than outward bravado. “Akshaye is brilliant, but Ranveer was restrained. He held back, and that’s the most difficult thing to do. Showing jingoism as a hero is easy and the audience believes it. But sitting back in another country, yearning for your motherland and wanting to do something, that’s very tough,” he explained.
Ranveer’s character, Hamza, has been widely discussed for its quiet intensity and emotional undercurrent. The role has resonated strongly with audiences, with viewers continuing to dissect key moments from the first part well after its theatrical run.
Looking ahead, Shetty also shared his excitement about the future of the franchise. Imagining Ranveer’s arc in the sequel, he said, “I can only imagine him in Dhurandhar 2. Legendary. Legendary. Hats off to the kid. Phenomenal.”
With Dhurandhar completing six weeks at the box office and Ranveer Singh setting new commercial benchmarks in Hindi cinema, anticipation around Dhurandhar 2 continues to build, ahead of its March 2026 release.
