Piers Morgan is recovering in hospital from major surgery, sharing the details of a painful injury online.
The 60-year-old broadcaster opened up about the ordeal on Instagram and revealed that he tripped on a small step, but the injury was so severe he needed a hip replacement.
Alongside a selfie of himself in a hospital bed flashing a thumbs up to the camera, he shared the “breaking news” about the accident.

“1. Tripped on small step. 2. In a London hotel restaurant. 3. Fell like a sack of spuds. 4. Fractured neck of femur,” Morgan wrote via X and Instagram on Sunday, January 18.
He revealed that the fracture was so bad he needed a new hip, and will be on crutches for the next six weeks.
He is also not allowed to fly long-haul for the next 12 weeks, and joked that the New Year is off to a cracking start.

In true-to-form Morgan style, he added “I blame Donald Trump” as the final bullet point in the caption.
Morgan seemed to be in high spirits in the selfie, despite being hooked up to oxygen and more in his hospital bed.
The post has been flooded with messages from fans across the world, wishing him a speedy recovery.
The controversial columnist responded to some comments, admitting to one following that “the same of it all is worse than the pain!”

Morgan has always been quite open about his trips to hospital, often sharing the details online.
In 2019, he shared that he was diagnosed and hospitalised with stomach gastritis and duodenitis.
Then, in 2020 during a family trip to Saint Tropez, he revealed on Instagram he had torn a tendon in his right leg and had to use crutches.
