Wayne Cousins — known as “Cuzzo” — is the former media manager for the Tigers and Sea Eagles.

Last year, he was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

It affects just one in 100,000 Australians and causes the immune system to attack the body’s nervous system.

The illness left Cuzzo completely paralysed — unable to talk, walk, eat, or even breathe on his own.

He spent most of 2025 in the Intensive Care Unit, but now, he’s finally back home.

There’s been a groundswell of community support as well, led by broadcaster Yvonne Sampson.
