The enigmatic Daniil Medvedev is no stranger to long, and controversial, matches at the Australian Open.
We can buckle in for another rollercoaster ride after the 11th seeded Russian star lost the opening set 7-6 (11-9) to France’s Quentin Halys.
Medvedev has now ducked away on John Cain Arena to take a lengthy bathroom break.
And commentator John Fitzgerald is not happy as fans twiddle their thumbs.
“This has driven me nuts for the last half a dozen years,” Fitzgerald said.
“It’s just one set. A tough set, yes, over an hour – but I just feel, best of five, take one break at the end of the third set.
“Unless there’s something desperate, but not just taking eight minutes out of the schedule. No-one else seems to talk about it. It just boggles my mind… don’t give them a break – give me a break.”
