Myles Garrett’s historic 2025 season finally delivered the recognition many believed was long overdue.

After terrorizing quarterbacks week after week and rewriting the record books, the Cleveland Browns superstar was voted the Pro Football Writers of America’s Defensive Player of the Year.

For Garrett, the honor represents more than another trophy. The Browns’ defensive anchor finished the regular season with 23 sacks.

With this amount of sacks, he set a new NFL single-season record and extended his hold on the franchise mark. His impact went far beyond sack totals. Garrett also recorded 33 tackles for loss.

The Browns’ veteran pass rusher has become the first player since 1982 to register at least 12 sacks in six straight seasons. And he now holds the record for the most career sacks by a player under the age of 30.

In the 2025 NFL season, one of the defining moments of his campaign came against New England, when he posted a five-sack performance.

Across 134 regular-season games, the Browns star has totaled 412 tackles, including 293 solo stops, along with 125.5 sacks. This places him among the most productive pass rushers of his era. The 30-year-old has also added 16 fumble recoveries, 6 forced fumbles, and seasons of double-digit sacks since 2018.

The PFWA honor carries significant weight because it reflects how the league’s writers viewed Garrett’s influence across the entire season. Even when Cleveland struggled offensively, Garrett remained the centerpiece of the team.

Garrett has earned multiple Defensive Player of the Year honors and All-NFL selections. But this one adds a new feather to his crown for a record-breaking season.
