Marc Marquez can very easily make a case for being the greatest MotoGP rider of all time. With six titles with Honda, he is certain to grab his seventh in 2025 with Ducati.

The 32-year-old has been displaying the same levels of dominance with Ducati as he showed with Honda in the 2010s. Marquez has won eight out of 12 Grand Prix in 2025 and all but one Sprint race.

Neil Hodgson has been ‘struggling’ to watch Marquez at Ducati, as he sees him as the ‘polar opposite’ of how he was at Honda. He sees the Spaniard as riding the bike slower and easier, but the results and dominance remain the same.

He has a comfortable lead of 120 points over brother Alex Marquez, heading into the second half of the season. Crashes at COTA and Jerez have prevented his advantage from being even more vast, with many waiting to see when Marc Marquez will claim his seventh MotoGP title.

The Ducati rider is determined to win another crown in the premier class, evidenced by Marquez’s ‘military discipline’ in training. He has been putting in the effort to return to the top after years of injury setbacks, and the 32-year-old continues to stagger his crew chiefs.

Marquez enjoyed incredible success with crew chief Santi Hernandez at Honda, before he moved on to Gresini and linked up with Frankie Carchedi. He is now working alongside Marco Rigamonti at Ducati, and Mat Oxley says they all say the same thing about him.

Speaking via the Oxley Bom Podcast, he says they all view Marquez as a ‘complete genius’ at helping them develop and set up the bike. Subsequently, Oxley dispelled the ‘complete myth’ that the Ducati rider does not know what to do for a set up.

“And another thing this year with Fermin [Aldeguer], Frankie [Carchedi] learned a lot working with Marc last year. If you’re going to be crew chief to Marc Marquez, you’re going to learn a hell of a lot,” he said.

“All the crew chiefs that I’ve known that worked with Marc, Santi Hernandez, Frankie, and now Marco Rigamonti, they all just say he’s a complete genius at helping them set up the bike.

“The whole thing that he doesn’t know what to do to develop or set up a bike is just a complete myth, a complete myth.”

With 10 races to go in 2025, Ducati are set to secure another title with Marquez at the helm. The Spaniard is enjoying a brilliant season with crew chief Rigamonti by his side.

Rigamonti says Marquez is far more humble than expected after noticing his character behind the scenes. He is often apologetic in debriefs, bringing up his mistakes on the track.

Marquez will break Valentino Rossi’s record as the oldest champion in the premier class in 2025. With his current form, it is possible that he could win the title within the next few rounds.

Rigamonti thinks Marquez can be ‘unbeatable’ with Ducati if he can perfect right-hand corners. He has not been as strong in that area after breaking his right arm in a crash at Jerez in 2020.
