Police fired shots at a vehicle they said rammed a police car outside a motel in Melbourne’s south-east on Thursday night.
Victoria Police said officers spotted a four-wheel drive with stolen plates travelling on the Princes Highway at Dandenong about 8.05pm.
Officers followed the vehicle before it came to a stop outside a motel.
The vehicle allegedly rammed a police van as it pulled up next to it.
Two officers got out of the van, and the four-wheel-drive driver then allegedly drove the vehicle towards them at speed.
Police fired two shots, striking the vehicle’s chassis.

The vehicle stopped in the motel’s driveway, and the two occupants were uninjured.
An 18-year-old man from Seaford and a 38-year-old man from South Melbourne were taken into custody and will be interviewed.
One officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police established a crime scene at the motel and have asked anyone with footage or information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The Professional Standards Command will oversee the investigation, which Victoria Police said is standard practice when a police firearm is discharged.
