Note: These values are based on estimates, and the final price you pay for phones may differ by Rs. 20,000 to 30,000 or more.
Used phones in Pakistan are set to become cheaper soon, as the FBR has lowered customs values for older generation phones from Samsung, Apple, OnePlus, and Google. We have already talked about Apple and Samsung phones, and now its turns to bring the spotlight to OnePlus and Google devices.
This reduction in customs values applies to imported used phones, meaning the tax values are the same as before, but the amount that is taxed is now lowered, effectively lowering the amount of PTA tax you have to pay on these phones.
Note that it will take some time before you start seeing these new values become effective.
PTA Tax for OnePlus 12 and Google Pixel 9
As per the new customs value for the OnePlus 12, the taxes on this phone should now be Rs. 19,454. Since a second-hand non-PTA OnePlus 12 is currently going for about Rs. 120,000 or so, we can expect the final retail price based on the new taxes to be around Rs. 140,000 – Rs. 160,000.
As for the vanilla Google Pixel 9, the new customs value determines its tax to be Rs. 17,740 on passports. Adding that to its usual market value of around Rs. 130,000, the final price of a PTA-approved device should add up to somewhere around Rs. 150,000 – 170,000, perhaps in a week or two.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro will be taxed at Rs. 20,000 on imports, and given its usual market value of Rs. 180,000 on used models, the final price you have to pay will vary somewhere between Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 220,000.
