Maccabi Tel Aviv has reportedly made another key move in its backcourt rebuild by signing Jeff Dowtin Jr., according to Moshe Barda. He also adds that next in line to join Israeli club is Serbian swingman, Uros Trifunovic.
The American guard is set to sign a two-year deal, with a mutual option for the second season, per NBA insider Marc Stein.
Dowtin, 28, is coming off a solid season with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he emerged as a steady contributor off the bench. In 41 games, he averaged 7.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, while shooting 48.7% from the field and an impressive 40.0% from three-point range.
His efficient shooting and dependable play reportedly drew interest from multiple European clubs this summer, but Maccabi appears to have won the race for his services. He is expected to take over as the team’s starting point guard.
The Rhode Island product becomes Maccabi’s second reported addition from Philadelphia this summer, joining Lonnie Walker IV, as the club continues to build a competitive roster for the upcoming EuroLeague season.
