Polyphia guitarist Tim Henson has just released his debut solo track, “Original Sin“. That song coincides with the announcement of his new clothing brand of the same name. Henson himself weighed in on the musical accompaniment for this business venture:
“‘Original Sin’ started as something digital with synths and keys, but once I translated it to my nylon-string guitar, everything clicked. I wanted to play with contradiction: a waltz that feels like it’s driving forward, something elegant but uncomfortable. Conceptually, it’s about choice. If you’re forced to do the right thing, it doesn’t mean anything. That idea – freedom, temptation, consequence – is something I’ve been thinking about a lot.”
Caleb Young directed the below music video for it. A press release offered some further clarity into the track and Henson‘s new brand:
‘The title ‘Original Sin,’”’ which Henson frames less as a moral lesson and more as a metaphor, is about creation as a game of agency, where meaning only exists because choice does. The philosophy extends into the music video which visually reinforces these themes. The vision behind Henson’s forthcoming clothing brand launch of the same name, is a high-end, complementary creative extension of the release, merging elevated design with the same meticulous attention to detail that defines his music.’
