The future is bright with John Harbaugh.

It is even brighter knowing he will coach Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart.

The headliners of the Giants’ 2025 draft class were announced as finalists for Associated Press NFL Rookie of the Year honors on their respective sides of the ball. The winners will be unveiled at the 15th annual “NFL Honors” on Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

Carter, the No. 3 overall pick, is up for the defensive award after leading all rookies with 23 quarterback hits while his four sacks were tied for fourth. Dart, the No. 25 selection, will look to take home the offensive honor after he led all rookie quarterbacks in rushing yards (487), rushing touchdowns (nine), and passer rating (91.7).

Dart is also one of six finalists for the 2025 Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year Award. That honor will be decided by a fan vote at nfl.com/rookies.

Dart ended his rookie campaign with 24 total touchdowns, including a franchise-record nine rushing scores. The No. 25 overall draft pick trails only Charlie Conerly (27 in 1948) and Daniel Jones (26 in 2019) for the most total touchdowns in Giants history by a rookie quarterback.

Dart surpassed Josh Allen (eight rushing touchdowns in 2018) for the second-most by a rookie quarterback in the Super Bowl era, trailing only Cam Newton (14 rushing touchdowns in 2011). He also became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to record a rushing touchdown in five consecutive games.

Carter and Dart will look to become the fifth pair of teammates to win AP Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year at the same time. The Texans’ C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. did it most recently in 2023, following the Jets’ Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner in 2022. It was also accomplished by the Saints’ Alvin Kamara and Marshon Lattimore (2017) and the Lions’ Mel Farr and Lem Barney (1967).

Three Giants have been named AP Rookie of the Year: Lawrence Taylor (1981) on defense, and Odell Beckham Jr. (2014) and Saquon Barkley (2018) for offense.
