A CLASSIC Holden Racing Team Commodore is being produced for V8 Supercar fans to enjoy – in 1:18 scale.

The 1997 Tickford 500-winning HRT Commodore VS driven to victory by Greg Murphy and Craig Lowndes is being produced by Biante Model Cars in 1:18 scale with pre orders open here now on the V8 Sleuth Superstore.

The victory came in a brand new #15 Mobil-backed Commodore that was making its race debut that weekend as Lowndes returned for his first race in Australia of ’97 after a season racing Formula 3000 open wheelers in Europe.

Murphy, who had replaced Lowndes that year as the full-time pilot of the factory team’s #15 entry, qualified sixth after the engine cut out during his Top 10 Shootout lap.

Race day was wet and the duo and their Bridgestone-shod Commodore led 103 of the 157 laps completed before the race was finished due to the 4.45pm local cut off time.

The victory gave Murphy and Lowndes their second straight Sandown 500 endurance race win, leading home Larry Perkins and Russell Ingall’s Castrol Commodore by nearly a full lap.

Presented in premium packaging and accompanied by an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity, this 1:18 model is a must-have for fans of Greg Murphy, Craig Lowndes, and the glory era of the Holden Racing Team.
