The City of Perth is planning its annual Australia Day spectacular, with festivities kicking off at Langley Park from 3pm with a multicultural zone, carnival rides and sideshow alley.

A freestyle motocross and BMX stunt show will add to the family-friendly entertainment before a sky-dive display.

The official light show, featuring fireworks and drones, expected to kick off at 8.30pm, although exact times will depend on wind and light factors.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the Australia Day activities provided an opportunity for the community to come together to reflect, respect and celebrate Australia’s rich and diverse culture.

“Australia Day is a chance to gather in the heart of our city, enjoy a beautiful summer’s day by the river, and reflect on the many stories, cultures and shared values that shape our country,” he said.

“We encourage everyone to make their way into the city to enjoy a vibrant mix of cultural experiences, live performances, entertainment, rides and international cuisine.

“Bring your friends and family, set up for the day along the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), and come together to watch the sky light up as we celebrate the city and lifestyle we know and love.”

Families are also expected to gather along the foreshore when the City of Rockingham begins its fireworks display from the Val Street Jetty at 8.30pm.

Further south, the City of Bunbury will present its SkyFest along the Koombana Bay foreshore with the night sky also set to light up at 8.30pm.

In the north of the state fireworks displays are also set for the Cue Sports Oval on Wittenoom Street and along the Geraldton Breakwater foreshore at 8.30pm.

Kalbarri and Port Hedland firework shows are set to begin at 8pm at Gantheaume Bay and Marie Marland Reserve respectively, while Karratha’s Australia Day spectacular will begin at 8.15pm over The Esplanade.
