The game is set to take place on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium, the traditional home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Among the details in the logo, a pirate ship is noticeable, paying homage to the actual boat that sits behind one of the endzones at the venue, which fires off cannons whenever the Bucs score.
For the Lightning, the Stadium Series will mark the second time they will appear in the particular event. Tampa faced off with the Nashville Predators at Nissan Stadium in the Music City in 2022, with the Bolts coming away with a 3-2 win. Both the Bruins and Rangers will tie the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers for the second-most outdoor games in NHL history, as the Original Six franchises will each be playing in their sixth games without a roof over their heads.
However, this will be the first time Boston will be playing in a Stadium Series contest. The Bruins have played in the 2010, 2016, 2019 and 2023 Winter Classics, along with one of the NHL’s games in Lake Tahoe in 2021. Boston is 4-1 in outdoor games, with the team’s lone loss coming in 2016 against the rival Montreal Canadiens in Foxborough.
