The ultimate footy underdog story could unfold this year as diehard fans around the nation set their sights on a brand new prize – the SuperCoach Cup.
Australia’s biggest fantasy game, SuperCoach, is back for 2026 with its whopping $50k cash for the fantasy coach who compiles the most points over the AFL season.
And this year there is a new reward for all coaches right up to the final game, including those who fall off the pace early in their private leagues or overall rankings.
More than 130,000 teams will face off every week in a head-to-head knockout comp – the fantasy version of the FA Cup. Catch a highly ranked team on a bad day, make a genius captain call, display your footy expertise or just fluke your way to a higher total for the week and you’re into the next round.
Teams are progressively eliminated until there are just two left standing in round 24, playing off for the inaugural SuperCoach Cup trophy plus $1000 in cash.
Anyone can win.
HOW IT WORKS
At the completion of round 6 of the AFL season every team entered in SuperCoach AFL will receive a ranking from 1 up to a possible 262,144 based on their season-to-date score.
Teams ranked in the top half will be randomly matched against teams in the bottom half in head-to-head contests for a one-week qualifying round. Winners proceed to the SuperCoach Cup, which starts in round 8.
All of the 131,072 qualifying teams will receive a ranking based on their score in round 7 Each team in the top 65,536 is randomly matched up against a team in the bottom 65,536. The winner proceeds to the next round and the loser is out, regardless of overall rank.
The process repeats for the next 16 rounds teams until there are two teams remaining in round 24. The winner of the final match-up will be crowned SuperCoach Cup champion, receiving the SuperCoach Cup trophy and $1000 cash!
Once the competition reaches the final 64 (round 19), the match-ups for all participating teams will be made available for everyone to view and follow live.
