JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Samford women’s golf team opened its spring season at the Sea Best Intercollegiate, finishing sixth, Monday and Tuesday at San Jose Country Club (par 72, 5,954 yards).
As a team, the Bulldogs finished with a three-day total of 62-over-par 926 (311-299-316) to finish sixth in the 11-team field. Florida won the event with a final score of 836 (277-279-280).
Junior Gabi Nicastro led Samford individually, tying for 18th in the 66-team field with a three-round score of seven-over-par 223 (73-73-77). Anika Richards tied for 31st at 230 (75-76-79).
Kate Joyner tied for 45th with a score of 237 (84-73-80), while Grace Engel tied for 49th at 239 (82-77-80). Anne Reaves Skinner finished in a tie for 58th with a final score of 250 (81-84-85).
Next up, Samford will compete in the Oyster Shuck Match Play, hosted by The Citadel, Feb. 9-10, in Charleston, S.C.
