While speaking at his press conference at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic last week, Tyrrell Hatton had the room erupting in laughter while discussing his weight gain over the holidays.
“We didn’t really talk about that. It was me mainly asking him if he’d had any good wine over Christmas, to be honest,” Hatton said. “He did. It was better than the wine I was drinking, but my wine was very nice, too. Then he was horrified to hear what my weight was on January 1st.
“It was 204 pounds, which, at 5-foot-8, is aggressive,” Hatton added with a smile. “Before the Ryder Cup, I was like, 190 [pounds],” Hatton continued. “So, I put on one stone [14 pounds]. Yeah, I enjoyed my December. I did do some training. Zero cardio, and a lot of drinking. I had a Guinness tap in the house, which was enjoyable. And, yeah, it’s now time to lose a bit of weight.”

Fireballs GC star David Puig was attempting to chase down Reed at the Dubai Desert Classic and thought he had finished 3rd. However, after the round, Puig was hit with a two-stroke penalty for inadvertently grounding his club in the bunker on the 18th hole. The mistake caused the Spaniard to slip to 7th on the leaderboard.
