CHICAGO — The 6th-ranked University of Chicago men’s basketball team returns to the Ratner Athletic Center on Friday evening for a UAA matchup with the Rochester Yellowjackets.
#6 UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO NOTES:
* UChicago enters the game with a 14-2 record on the season and 4-1 in the UAA after having their 12-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon against NYU. The win streak was the longest for UChicago since winning 13 in 2015-16.
* UChicago currently sits at #6 in the country in the latest D3hoops.com Top-25 poll. The Maroons fell to #6 from #2 following their loss to NYU on Sunday afternoon.
* Shane Regan and Nick Roper became the first two Preseason All-Americans in UChicago history this season. The duo was also just named to the Bevo Francis Top-100 Watch List for the best Small College basketball player in the country.
* Regan leads the team with 17.9 points per game on 51.0% shooting, while adding 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
* Roper has also added 14.7 points with 7.6 rebounds while shooting over 56.3% from the floor. He grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds while scoring 25 points in the win over Wheaton.
* Eamonn Kenah joins the graduate student duo in scoring in double figures with 12.3 points per game with 49% shooting from long range on 41 made triples this season.
* Joe Berry and Kenah are both chasing the 1,000-point threshold for UChicago. Berry is 7 points away from the 1,000-point club, while Kenah sits 57 points away.
* Head Coach Mike McGrath has compiled a career record of 371-262, and he ranks top 50 in NCAA DIII in active wins.
* After battling Rochester on Friday night, the Maroons will return to Ratner on Sunday for a top-6 matchup with #1 Emory at 2 PM.
UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER NOTES:
* Rochester comes into the weekend with a 9-7 record overall and a 2-3 record in UAA play.
* The Yellowjackets snapped their six-game losing streak last weekend with a weekend sweep over (RV) Carnegie Mellon (96-82) and Case Western (97-88).
* Tomiwa Adetosoye leads the UAA in both Steals (39) and Made Free Throws (87).
* He also ranks 2nd in Assists (73) and 5th in Points/Game (17.5) to lead the Yellowjackets.
* Corvin Oprea is the top scorer for Rochester with 17.9 points per game and a team-high 42 made triples.
* Oprea also leads the team on the boards with 7.1 rebounds per game.
* Following their game with the Maroons, the Yellowjackets will travel to St. Louis for a matchup with (RV) WashU on Sunday.
SERIES HISTORY:
* Rochester leads the all-time series 39-36 over UChicago.
* The Maroons have a 23-13 advantage all-time in Chicago, including an 89-68 victory last season.
* UChicago swept the season series in 2024-25, their first season sweep since the 2017-18 season.
* Daniel Cochran was excellent against the Yellowjackets last season, averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds as a freshman.
