Currently, Anzac Day is only deemed a public holiday in NSW on April 25, even if it occurs on a Saturday or Sunday, as will be the case this year, when it falls on Saturday.

“We’re going to have a conversation about it for this year,” Minns told Triple M’s Beau, Cat & Woodsy.

“We’re underserved when it comes to public holidays; there’s a lot more in every other state.”

However, Minns insisted he would not make moves until he had consulted with the RSL to ensure it doesn’t take away from the importance of remembrance ceremonies and marches on Anzac Day itself.

“I’ve got to have confidence that if we have a public holiday on the Monday, it doesn’t detract from the salience of the 25,” he insisted.

“It’s got to be the 25 that’s hugely important.”
