The golden age of air travel is celebrated in a new collaboration between Christopher Ward and the renowned, historic commercial airline, Pan American World Airways.
The 707-piece limited edition C60 Clipper GMT takes the iconic blue & red GMT colours, and adds several Pan Am-inspired easter eggs, such as a Pan Am Clipper plane on the seconds hand, and a stamped case back featuring the iconic Pan Am logo.
As Christopher Ward continues its break into the USA, the C60 Clipper GMT represents a celebration of the spirit of adventure, paying tribute to a brand steeped in American history.

In October 2025, it was announced that the golden age of air travel was to get a resurgence, with the return of Pan American World Airways as a commercial airline brand. You might wonder what the big deal is about that, but in reality, the Pan Am brand is a staple of Americana; a reminder of an era when air travel was exciting and magical, and when the world began to feel much smaller. Pan Am originally emerged around 70 years ago, and has a rich history spanning several decades, with some surprisingly intrinsic connections to watches, too. To celebrate this, Christopher Ward has partnered with the newly reformed Pan American World Airways to produce a new C60 that attempts to capture that enduring spirit of aviation at its most aspirational.

Christopher Ward’s C60 platform has attracted significant attention over the past year or so, bringing a diverse range of styles, colourful finishes and materials to the forefront of one of the brand’s bestsellers. This new C60 Clipper uses the mid-size C60 stainless steel case, which comes in at 42mm in diameter and 12.45mm thick. While that sounds like a hefty chunk, the 49.3mm lug-to-lug brings the proportions down, and the oversized polished bevels on each side give the illusion that the case is thinner than it is. This means the typical slab-sided look of this style of sports watch is absent, thinning out the overall profile.

Sportswatch style is matched with sportswatch functionality, too, given that the Clipper is rated to 300 meters of water resistance. One of the most distinctive aspects of the Clipper’s case is the bi-directional rotating bezel: finished in blue anodised aluminium, it enables an instant worldtimer function, and hides some neat Pan Am details, too.

Each of the 24 clicks corresponds with the 24 cities highlighted on the bezel in a Pam Am font, each of which is represented by IATA airport codes, denoting 24 significant locations in Pan Am’s history, such as Key West, Florida (EYW -5). This is specially highlighted in red to mark the location of Pan Am’s first-ever flight in 1927. Also, Dallas, Texas (DAL -6), which was a popular Pan Am location that ran services to London and Frankfurt, as well as the location of the first Christopher Ward showroom in the United States.

The dial on the C60 Clipper is finished in an eggshell white, typical of pilots’ watches at the time, offering a striking contrast to the bright blue details elsewhere. The rehaut also contains the 24-hour GMT ring, indicated in the traditional GMT colours: red for daytime, and blue for night. I’m not sure if we can call this a “Pepsi” (really, red and blue are Pan Am’s corporate colours) but there’s something about those two colours which just look fantastic on a watch, no matter what watch they’re on.

The details on the dial are excellently finished, just as you’d expect on any Christopher Ward, with gorgeously polished hour markers and hands, finished with Super-LumiNova Grade X1 BL “old radium” lume, to give off that vintage vibe. These details are also accentuated with other Pan Am touches, such as the bright blue Pan Am logo at six, and the CW trident replaced on the seconds hand counterbalance by a blue Pan Am Clipper plane, after which the watch is named.

The Clipper is powered by the Sellita SW330-2 automatic GMT movement, also found in models such as the C63 Sealander Extreme. It’s a true GMT movement, which allows quick setting of the date and the GMT hand to easily change to local time when travelling. As a member of the SW300 family, it’s a robust and reliable calibre, offering a 56-hour power reserve, while beating at 28,800 Vph. Timing tolerance is great, too, coming in at +/- 20 seconds per day. The movement sits under a solid, engraved case back embossed with the iconic Pan Am “Blue Meatball” logo and each watch’s number, up to 707, which pays homage to the famous Boeing of the same number.

Finally, the watch arrives on a brushed stainless steel Bader bracelet, Christopher Ward’s solid three-link sports offering, which features quick-release spring bars. This can easily be swapped out for the complementary woven strap, which is made from the same material as Pan Am’s aeroplane seat belts, which is a very neat touch. This is all packaged in some custom Pan Am packaging, along with a custom-printed cleaning cloth and blue Pan Am sleeve.
