Coronation Street icon Daniel Brocklebank has said his final goodbyes to the ITV soap after Billy Mayhew’s emotional funeral scenes aired. Billy was laid to rest in the show’s most recent episode, after being killed in the explosive Corriedale crossover episode.
After his character was laid to rest, Brocklebank, who has starred in the soap for 11 years, shared a post to Instagram featuring a programme from the funeral alongside his casket.
He wrote in the caption: “Well, that’s it. Final goodbye to Billy and my 11 years of being part of that special @coronationstreet family.
“Loved the writing! ‘Dapper Dan’, ‘Greatest Showman’ some lovely nods. You say goodbye, I say hello to so many new adventures. With huge love @coronationstreet over and out.”
Billy’s death came during a multi-vehicle pile-up involving characters from both Corrie and Emmerdale. The character was left trapped in the minibus by Theo Silverton and perished when it burst into flames.

Debbie Webster was initially arrested for the fatal accident after her brother Carl, who was driving drunk at the time, framed her.
Brocklebank’s post comes after the star shared a secret detail in his character’s harrowing death scenes.

“Many, many years ago, I was also in Emmerdale, and I played a bisexual Geordie binman, with the most Welsh-sounding name you’ve ever heard,” he told host Luis Elkes on Corriedale: Backstage Pass.
“I couldn’t believe they didn’t want Ivan Jones to be Welsh. No, they did not. Anyway, I filmed my very last scene in Emmerdale in, what was then, the Woolpack set.
“That mini-bus was in the Woolpack set, so I filmed my last scene in Corrie about a metre away from where I was sat filming my last scene in Emmerdale. How crazy is that? 20 years apart. Very cyclical.”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
