Indian Cricket is largely driven by superstars and particularly so in the T20 format. With the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the responsibility is now one the senior stars to take the team forward.
However, it appears that two of the senior and settled superstars in the Indian team are struggling to gain momentum.Â
The two players in discussion here are Hardik Pandya and Jaspreet Bumrah, as both of them had been on and off in the recent past. Particularly had been leaking runs in the death overs, which is not the case with them usually.Â
Even in the game against New Zealand, last night Bumrah considered nearly 20 runs in his final over and generated a lot of momentum to the New Zealand team. This is in complete contrast to the usual reputation of Bumrah as he is absolutely untouchable at any stage of the game.Â
On the other hand, even Hardik Pandya has been very inconsistent with the bat as he had been either scoring at a blistering rate or getting out under run, and there is no in between. A lot more consistency is expected from a senior star like Hardik, particularly before the start of the T20 World Cup.
The natural expectation is that these two superstars who are crucial for India’s victory in the World Cup would come good in the tournament as they have the reputation of being big game players.
