Sports company PUMA has announced the appointment of Archie McEachern as the new Vice President of its Basketball business unit, effective August 18, 2025. Based in Boston, he will report directly to PUMA’s Chief Product Officer, Maria Valdes.

McEachern brings a wealth of experience from a successful career in the sports industry, having held international leadership positions in merchandising, product creation, and sales at prominent companies like Nike and VF Corporation. His background also includes serving as the CEO of 360 Hoops, an innovative basketball startup. McEachern steps into the role previously held by Max Staiger, who departed the company earlier this year.

“With Archie, we’ve brought on a seasoned expert who understands both product and the culture of our consumers,” said Maria Valdes. “Basketball has always been a part of PUMA’s DNA, and as the game continues to grow globally, we’re confident that Archie will help elevate our legacy and expand our impact on and off the court.”

PUMA’s basketball unit has experienced significant growth since its return to the sport in 2018. The company has produced highly successful products, including the popular MB series of signature shoes and the All-Pro with its NITROTM foam technology. PUMA has also built a strong roster of brand ambassadors, featuring NBA and WNBA stars such as LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, and Breanna Stewart.
