Max Holloway is loving the confidence from Alexander Volkanovski ahead of UFC 325.
Volkanovski (27-4 MMA, 14-3 UFC) defends his featherweight title in a rematch against Diego Lopes (27-7 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in Saturday’s main event at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney (Paramount+).

Volkanovski has shut down any retirement rumors ahead of the event, and plans on jumping right back in the octagon if he can come out relatively unscathed. Holloway, who went 0-3 against Volkanovski in featherweight title fights, thinks the champion will prove to be too much.
“I feel like Alex has something that we don’t know because Alex’s been going around and saying that he’s going to make this fight look super easy,” Holloway said on his YouTube channel. “I think he wants to turn around real quick and fight. At the end of the day, I can’t go against Alex. Diego is an animal, don’t get me wrong. Diego is sick, he’s an animal. But I think I’m leaning towards Alex just because of his overall experience.”
If Volkanovski can follow a similar game plan which helped him get his hand raised at UFC 314, Holloway, the reigning UFC BMF champion who rematches Charles Oliveira in the UFC 326 headliner on March 7, sees success for his former foe.

“As long as Volk doesn’t let Diego get in his face, pressure him, and then land something, I can see a clear path for Volk,” Holloway said. “Sticking and moving, what he usually does, get his leg kicks involved. Jab, long jabs, big right hands.”
