If you are looking for Britain’s information superhighway, all roads lead to Slough. The manufacturing hub on London’s doorstep is where the dysfunctional paper factory from the comedy TV series The Office was based. But now it is more famous for being home to Europe’s largest concentration of data centres.
Whether it be everyday financial transactions or streaming a television show, those bits of code are likely to pass through this town next door to Windsor Castle, which has been dubbed Britain’s “data centre alley”.
