LIVE: The NSW Waratahs are in action for the first time in 2026 as they take on the Reds at Ballymore Stadium (live on Stan Sports, 3pm kick-off AEDT).

Lock Matt Philip leads out his boyhood club for the first time, with Wallabies wing Harry Potter making his (friendly) debut for the Waratahs.

Match action:

45′ Some errors creeping in to the Reds’ game, with a sloppy passage of play. There’s a tackle off the ball, which sees the Waratahs win a penalty on halfway, and replacement Jack Bowen finds a great touch with his boot to give us an attacking lineout in the Reds 22.

43′ Offside call against the Waratahs and the Reds win a penalty just behind halfway, forcing an attacking lineout in our defensive zone.

41′ Second half under way here in Brisbane, let’s see what the second 40 has on offer for us!

HALF-TIME HERE AT BALLYMORE, THE WARATAHS TAKE A 23-POINT LEAD INTO THE SHEDS!

39′ TRY FOR THE WARATAHS! We strike again, displaying so much power from our driving maul. Clem Haloholo the beneficiary this time. With Harvey adding the extras, we lead 35-12.

35′ Try for the Reds from a driving maul as hooker Richie Asiata dives over. Gordon misses the conversion, which leaves the Waratahs ahead by 16, 28-12.

28′ ANOTHER TRY FOR THE WARATAHS! Patient build up play and a fantastic line break by Lawson Creighton! We recycle the ball, Potter finds Walton, who pops up to Teddy Wilson to dive over! Harvey again with the conversion, 28-7 to the Tahs!

22′ TRY FOR THE WARATAHS! Another debut try, this time for centre George Poolman. We make our way down the field gradually and Joey Walton puts in a lovely grubber with his left boot, which Poolman races onto to dot down! Harvey again succcessful from the tee, 21-7 to the Tahs here in Brisbane!

19′ The Tahs scrum wins a huge penalty five metres out from their own line. James Hendren clears his lines as we survive a great defensive spell.

17′ The Reds nearly go over for another try, but Carter Gordon’s cross kick doesn’t quite find the hands of his winger.

13′ The Reds respond with a try of their own, fullback Jock Campbell gets the ball in space out wide and shows good pace to score, Carter Gordon adds the extras for the home side to reduce the deficit to seven.

10′ TRY! It’s an excellently worked score from the Waratahs, as Potter is again in the action with an outside step and lovely offload to Leafi Talataina, who steps inside to score. 14-0 to the Tahs.

8′ The Tahs are applying pressure on the Reds line, but can’t make their way through and give away a penalty. The Reds clear their lines but the away side will come back.

2′ TRY FOR THE WARATAHS. Wallabies wing Harry Potter makes an immediate impact on his first appearance, intercepting the ball from 65m out and running the field to score. Unbelievable start! Sid Harvey adds the extras for a 7-0 lead!

1′ We’re under way here at Ballymore, with the Waratahs receiving kick-off!
