For the first time in four years, the Farmers will finish on Sunday. Due to a desire to avoid the NFL’s AFC and NFC Championship games, the Farmers went to a Wednesday-to-Saturday format. But, there’s no NFL playoff games this Sunday so Farmers slides back to its usual place.
Who’s leading the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open?
Justin Rose has opened with 62 (North) and 65 (South) and heads to the weekend with a four-shot lead over Seamus Power, who will be his playing partner Saturday. Rose said he’s playing “special golf” so far, noting that he admires the San Diego area and enjoys playing difficult golf courses.
“I feel like in my career I’ve won on tough golf courses generally so that’s my M.O. I would say. It’s the kind of a place I enjoy. It’s one of my favorite tournaments on Tour just the whole area, the whole atmosphere, the whole vibe. Whether it be Torrey Pines or Del Mar or the surrounding area, it’s just one of those places I feel good.”
Power (65-66) is in second at 13 under. Joel Dahmen (70-63) is tied for third courtesy of his three-eagle round on Friday. Also tied for third at 11 under is Max McGreevy, who came on late with birdies on four of his last six holes. Si Woo Kim is solo fifth at 10 under.
What is the prize money at the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open?
The total prize fund and the first-place check have increased from a year ago. The total purse in 2026 is $9.6 million and the winner will take home $1.728 million.
Which golf courses are used for the Farmers Insurance Open?
The Farmers Insurance Open is played on two golf courses: Torrey Pines North and Torrey Pines South. Each golfer in the field will play one round in each of the two over the first two days. Then, after the 36-hole cut is made, all golfers will compete on the South course over the weekend.
Can anyone play golf at Torrey Pines?
The short answer: Yes. The long answer: It’s much more condusive for locals, price-wise, although getting a tee time takes some work. For out-of-towners, well, you’re going to fork over some cash to play either of these municipal courses.
