The Mustangs (0-2) will be looking for their first victory of the season on Sunday after opening their dual season last week in San Diego with a pair of defeats.

During last weekend’s duals against BYU and University of San Diego, senior Kennedy Buntrock had a stellar showing, helping her earn Big West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career. The honor for the senior from Henderson, Nevada, came after she went 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles across the duals with the Cougars and Toreros. Her performance was highlighted by earning a straight sets victory against San Diego’s Hannah Read last Sunday, who is the 53rd-ranked singles player in the country. It was Buntrock’s first career ranked singles victory.

UC Davis is 2-4 this season, earning shutout victories over Pacific and Jessup last weekend to secure its first wins of the year. The Aggies fell at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday 6-1 in their Big West opener. Cal Poly took down the Aggies 6-1 last year in Davis and are 20-9 all-time against the Aggies.

Sunday’s match against UC Davis kicks off a five-match homestand for the Mustangs. Cal Poly hosts Boise State at noon on Friday and Saint Mary’s at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8.
